Make a Game on iPad with Procreate and hyperPad

Are you a game developer or digital artist using Procreate on your iPad?

If so, you’ll love hyperPad! You can make games right on your iPad, with no coding required.

Here’s why you should try hyperPad:

No Coding Needed: With hyperPad, you make games without writing a single line of code. You drag and drop Objects and connect Behaviors to bring your game ideas to life.

Bring In Your Procreate Art: Already drawing in Procreate? Export your artwork and import it into hyperPad as Graphics for your games. Your own art is what makes your game stand out.

Built-In Physics Engine: hyperPad’s physics engine adds realistic movement and interactions to your game. Whether you’re making a platformer, a puzzle game, or something totally unique, hyperPad gives you the tools to make it happen.

Particle Effects: Add visual flair with hyperPad’s particle effects, from explosions to magic spells.

Explore and Share: hyperPad comes with a community. Explore indie games by other creators on the hyperPad Hub, publish your own, and export your games to the App Store with hyperPad (the paid app) to reach a wider audience.

Check out games like "Super Cow" made on hyperPad that are now on the Apple App Store!

Test each asset inside the running Scene, not only on its own. Keep it when it makes the action clearer, strengthens feedback, or supports the atmosphere.

Test the artwork inside a playable Scene

A finished illustration is not automatically a useful game asset. Import one file through the Asset Library, place it on an Object, and test it at the size and speed players will actually see. The Importing Assets guide covers the supported workflow.

Build a small interaction around that asset:

  1. Put the Object against the real background color.
  2. Add Started Touching if the player should tap it.
  3. Use Set Graphic to show a second state, or Play Animation for a prepared animation.
  4. Add one sound only if it makes the result easier to understand.
  5. Test on the iPad at normal viewing distance.

Check the silhouette, contrast, touch target, animation timing, and file size before creating a full asset set. If the first Object is unclear, producing twenty more in the same style multiplies the problem. The free 2D game assets guide also explains why licence terms must be checked before publication.

Before expanding the Project, test the mechanic with placeholder art and default values. A clear prototype makes later decisions easier because you can tell whether a problem comes from the interaction, the presentation, or the scope. Keep the smallest version that demonstrates the idea, then add one change per test.

Use the result of that test to decide whether the next addition should be clearer feedback, a better control, or a new challenge. Do not add all three at once.
