Join the Global Game Jam with hyperPad
hyperPad is joining the Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2023! This year, we're hosting a series of workshops in several languages and running in-person events at the University of Waterloo and Western University. Whether you've been part of the hyperPad community for years or you're brand new, it's a chance to make a game and compete for prizes.
The top three games will earn their creators $100 USD iTunes gift cards. Every participant will receive a certificate of Game Jam completion, and we'll hand out additional awards to recognize standout work.
The 2023 Theme: ROOTS
The Global Game Jam is a worldwide event for video game creators. This year's jam has drawn 18,500 participants across 778 locations. The theme is "ROOTS," and you're free to interpret it however you like. It could mean plant roots, relationships and personal experiences, or scientific concepts like evolution and plant science. Pick an angle that interests you and build your game around it.
Making Games on iPad Workshops
Our in-person workshops at Western University and the University of Waterloo have already received positive reviews, and students were surprised by how quickly they learned to use hyperPad. We'll keep hosting in-person and online tutorials throughout the week to help participants as they build their games.

Why Join a Game Jam
Prizes are nice, but a game jam can also be a first step toward a career in game development.
