PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Share this project:

Deflect malicious orbs by matching their color.

This game is mostly finished but not quite. Will return to make a proper death animation and game over screen later.

All music and art by me. This is SIRD4SH, by the way. I felt like it was time for a new username.

VERSION 1.3

Last Updated: September 21, 2022

Lots of little fixes and difficulty tweaks. If at least one person plays this and enjoys it, I’ll be completely satisfied lol. Criticism welcome. Don’t intend on making it any more complex, however.

I like the graphics and game concept, but like WhiteHearr it gets a bit laggy for me (iPad Air 1). Is it possible to be optimised a bit? It's a pretty simple game, I can help if you have no old iPads to test with.

I have one old iPad I can test it on. I’ll dig it out of storage one of these days and go at it to see what I can do to fix the lag. Thanks!

This is awesome. So fun and addict. I agree with Robinson, at first I didn’t know what to do but once it “clicked” it felt so smooth. The gameplay makes the player feel really good, in a way where the simple controls make you feel like a pro.

One change I would make is the purple balls. It’s such an amazing concept and literally had my jaw drop because it’s genius. But on a few replays they showed up right at the beginning. I’d put some logic in place so they come in after a certain score or time. This way it’s a twist, and the player sort of figured out the gameplay.

Thank you! That means a lot! And that’s a fair idea. I wanted to do that but only after I create some kind of tutorial. I’d rather the player understand how to combat the purple ball straight away as opposed to losing when they’re on a hot streak because they were thrown a curve ball that they didn’t know how to deal with. Thanks again!

Thats a good point. I'm sure a tutorial would solve it and make it less like a new mechanic. Speaking of streaks, it would be cool to have some combos/streaks type multipliers. This would keep the player engaged over long periods of time. Sort of like slot machines, it's how they keep people seated and gambling. Lots of flashy lights to reward to players senses.

I agree! I was thinking of rewarding players for waiting until the very last second to switch colors. Almost like hitting that “perfect!” note in guitar hero. Either that, or I was going to add some little power ups.

Idk how but when the purple ball came in I already guessed what I had to do, same with grey balls, they didn't get me lol. A very quick tutorial might be nice, but not completely necessary as it only takes a few minutes (at least for me, can't say this for everyone I guess) of failure to figure it out.

Awesome concept! It was difficult to grasp the gameplay because there wasn't any tutorial. Though, once I got used to the controls, it was amazing. The little detail of holding both colors to create purple was mind-blowing to me, it's one of those minute details that make a game instantly better.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I’ll add in a tutorial later on, I just wanted to jump right into the gameplay for now haha.

It is so nice and relaxing, but kind of lag a bit on time with my iPad mini. When gray bubbles starts to appear, it’s really hard with the lag to actually counter them, I don’t have the time to realize what color it was from the gray bubble. Maybe it is from the objects that spawn again and get destroyed. Or maybe it doesn’t get destroyed, I don’t know. Maybe it’s on the effects or something, but I can’t really tell from where it is. But a really great game! Cool looking and I love the sounds.

That’s strange. I haven’t experienced this myself on any device I’ve tried it on and I swear I set everything up to destroy. I’ll do some digging around. Thanks!
