Tbh, I have now gotten bored of Mario, but it's still a wip. I can't allow you to make your own version of the game because of reasons I had before with a curtain someone. @RKS the game is fine. These are the problems; Check you have enough RAM on your iOS Device, Or make sure you have Cloud storage on hyperPad. Either one is bound to work. If not, your Device is outdated and neither me or @GameCRAZY can help with that.

Well, everyone. Slurps for a long time, from mug, full to the brim with tea We have reached 100 plays! Thank you all for playing my game. If you have played it more than 2 times a day, NOT 2 U!! BAD BABY!! slaps u on wrist, very hard but srsly tho, thank you all. It's been a long while, and it's been fun! If I must, I will keep giving out updates even after 8.0, but not very often. (about 4-7 times a year ;~; IF that does happen) but I want to let you guys know, 8.0 will be pushed a LOT further back. Maybe not a Hallow's eve update, but more towards a Christmas Update. So, anywhere from now to Christmas, I will put it up. If an email comes through from @GameCRAZY so I can get it out ASAP. One week ago, I said 8.0 will be delayed until "Next week". Turns out, @GameCrazy is busy with his own things, and I can totally respect that. Don't think I'm taking a dig at ya, bro. But I think I want to finish it off now, and make sure it's a green light as soon as it's done without days and days of me not checking my mail. So everyone. Hopefully by 31st, I will be done. A lot of things wrong. First don't call it an "original concept" or whatever because it puts you in a legal spot that could land you with a fine/court sentence. It also doesn't fell like Mario I created a game based on super Marino land and created my own copy graphics, it appears that you have used the original Mario graphics.

While I was browsing through the comments of this game for I don't 10 hours because I love it I couldn't help but notice complaints about the jump, however, I have found a way to fix colliding animations, simply do this: [ when jump button is pressed ] [ set Mario graphic to jumping graphic ]

[ collided with floor (group the entire floor) ] [ set jumping graphic to Mario graphic ]

I don't really think it matters whether it's an animation it a change graphic behavior. I try to avoid changing behavior graphics unless I'm 100% sure it's necessary. This is just what I think.

@Alexcoolkid00 thanks again! Sending games through emails are ridicolously easy. All you do is get the email link for the project and copy and paste it into a chain - but don't worry about that! As for the changing graphic situation, it isn't about going out of my comfort zone because it's just easier the way ?i'm already doing it. But I still go out of my comfort zone based on my needs. I've been doing this for a while XD.

Well, hello everyone. I come to you with some... News. I am not continuing with this game. There isn't much more I can do with it at all. The final update I will bring to you, will be 8.0 and after that, it will stay up, and any bugs WILL NOT be fixed as I am working on a new game related to the Mario Franchise. It's coming next year. That, however, is all I can say for now. I won't reveal the name until October the 20th.

Yeah, @54rush I have to end it here. I cannot finish anything until @GameCRAZY is done. And then, just maybe, it may have one last update. But that will take about 3 months of hard work. I think I'm up to it. But that isn't a promise. It depends on how well GameCRAZY makes this update. I WILL FINISH LEVEL 3!!! DONT WORRY ABOUT IT, CRA-Z!!! But like I said. At one point this-next month (judged by how busy GameCRAZY is;) it will have to end. And just to make it easier, I can tell you what will happen and what won't for 8.0. It's no glitch, because he set it as left and right in portrait mode, turn your device landscape and you will realize that it goes left and right according to default hyperpad view, NOT portrait so to fix this he will have to replace left and right with up and down.

Sad, one thing that kills this game is if you jump on the goomba, you have chance of dieing! But on true mario you can jump on goombas and they die, not you, so this is a important bug fix that we need, but btw the remake isnt bad :)

Ok, @T-Studios I have come to a verdict. If you want to make a branch, yes. But you have a deadline to e-mail it to me. You must keep the 2 first scenes and level 1 and two. If you don't give it to my email by the 25th of September, I will cancel the branch. If you need more time tell me as its allowed. My email will be give when you are done. Apps I used to make the sprites: 8-Bit GIF Maker, Autodesk sketchbook (PRO VERSION), And I also used an app that's no on the App Store anymore, but Adobe Photoshop something or other.

Not a bad mario game! Doesn't quite feel like the original there are a few things off. But I'm sure you can get them working. There are 2 things that make Mario very special. Player controls, and the camera. Take a look at some videos that explain these 2 elements then try to recreate that Mario feeling. With the camera, it doesn't actually start following Mario until he reaches a certain point on the screen. Then if he goes back, it stops following him for a few pixels, then follows again. There is a small area where mario can move forward and back with out the camera following. Try to recreate this if you can, it's one of the things that make mario feel amazing (and pretty challenging!)

Also, I noticed your game lags a bit when pressing jump. I took a quick look, and see you have a timer of 0 seconds doing a bunch of stuff. This is interfering with your jump with button. Try to rework this logic. Also, you have play sound when you touch the button, you don't need to do this. You can actually play a sound right from the Jump behaviour properties, or connect the play sound to the bottom of jump with button.

I'm working as hard as I can with College at the moment, what with loads of homework on my final year, and this side-game. I am making an update with the camera adjustments, but I'm going to need more time to do this. The lag is also to do with the physics (I think?!) and the amount the game is processing all at the same time to make him jump. I will re-work the logic so that the lag is smaller. I don't think it has to do with physics. If you disable your timer, your game still works fine and the lag is gone.

Regarding physics though, make all objects that the player can never touch scenery. Scenery objects have no collisions or physics calculations so this will increase performance.

Also, the pause button is shaped like a play button... Lol

I really wish those mystery boxes gave you mushrooms and/or power ups of some kind.

Otherwise it's a pretty good game!

@54rush I took out mystery box power ups as there were bugs and they caused the game to lag too much. As for extra animations, I won't be adding them until I feel like they should be added. Goombas (the brown things,) will have a walking animation soon enough, but the jumping animation is in testing and I can't quite get it to work.

Hey guys! As a bug tester of this game, I have one important bug fix to mention XD.

@MISFIT we implemented count down and score fixes. Basically, when transitioning from the beginning of level 2 to the underground part the count down reset. No more guys! Hooray! Lol ;)

The game bugs out for a milli-second before jumping, and there is no Seperate Sprite for jumping. Otherwise, no bugs at all.

This game is just like the original! It lacks a few thing though! 1. The "game over" screen, I think you should change a bit. 2. It's up to you but in Mario you had three tries on a level 3. And you should be able to get mushrooms from the mystery boxes! Other wise it's super fun and the first level is really hard! Great Job!

Well, at Mr. @Drlance , that is a question that can't be answered right now as I have further plans for some other things related to bosses.... And nah. You can go all the way back to the start. I didn't like the fact that you couldn't in the old game. It's helpful when I re-add power-ups and you miss them, the game will still think it's an entity, therefore leaving it alone so that it doesn't de-spawn.

I'm using an iPad mini (first generation) with the latest IOS version (IOS 9.3.5). I've experienced this in other Hyperpad games, and it seems like Hyperpad's joystick is just bugged in general. It'll probably be fixed in an upcoming update. That's why I've been hesitant to use it in my projects. I hope this helped, and I'm glad to help dude!

Haha! @Mikpad14 I am had the same issue with my iPad mini 1. This is not a bug in general, it's to do with the hit box of the acctual joystick on some devices. I have made my joystick about 50% bigger, so this shouldn't be a problem as soon as this update rolls out. And sure! I would be glad to have a proper beta helper/tester! Thanks!

I have more iOS Devices than I can count haha! And no. I don't use Xcode. I just port them over via computer by using it as a side-app. This tricks the phone thinking it is a real app. And I'm about to roll out another update, but before I can, would you like to test it real quick. Can you possibly explain how you do that? I got some feedback and news for you!

  1. The joystick is working now! I don't know what was wrong with it before - if it wasn't you or Hyperpad... I don't know... I'm baffled...

  2. I couldn't find the 2nd ending on the menu. I don't really think another ending for the same level is needed. As for the ending it's a bit sloppy. You should make the flower, or the mushroom (whatever it was) passable. Then put an empty object in the middle. When I collide with that there could be an effect and then the game would progress. Do you follow?

  3. You should hide the joystick and button on the menu.

  4. Maybe a level select screen? I didn't see any other bugs. The text needs improvement but that's it. The problem with the text is that it just doesn't fit in with the graphics and the colors just don't match.

Ok! Thanks for the feed back @MIkpad14 . I would like to make the end a little less... Crap? But I didn't have the app to do it, but I found one this morning, so I would gladly do that! And Yaay! That darn joystick works! I made it about %30 bigger, and I changed the Hit Box so that its slightly larger than the joystick itself. I can do just about take the U.I. Off the screen. That's easy. And yeah, maybe. I could do that if GamePress was still available.

And anyways, I played it and I got feedback, AGAIN!

-The level select screen is unnecessary if there's a play button. The play button should take you to the level select, and there should be an option for credits, the shop you're adding (even if it doesn't work yet)... You get the idea.

-The level screen is a blob of text. Make a separate scene with Mario and animation and sound as he jumps to the next level! Get what I'm saying?

  • I'm still not a fan of the text. Change it.

Can we move to email? That would make this easier.

For now, I'll explain myself though. It isn't about the text. It's about the color of it. Your text is hard to read because it blends in with the background and other objects. Just make it stand out.

The animation is all about art. I personally suck at drawing. I can't make character animations without hours of tedious work, and even then it doesn't look right. You could find tutorials on running and jumping animations all over the Internet. You save them all as separate images and then import them into Hyperpad. Then, you make your animation with the animation behavior (you order the graphics, make the speed, etc).

Yeah, so I hope that helped lol. I should be updating my game in 15 minutes - called "Infinite Direction." Can you check it out and tell me what you think?

Yeah. About the font. Changed it from 8-bit to Arial. But it's all the same colours. I'll change the colours to something else. And sure! I could get away from the editing and this slow chat. I'll check out your game!
