Cool mechanics so far. Love the graphics, animations, music, and sound effects.
Some suggestions:
-
A little intro or blurb explaining how to play/win each level.
-
I intuitively thought I could jump on the enemies and kill them just because of how they look and move on the ground like that. Might want to think a bit deeper on that.
-
When the player jumps beyond the top screen boundaries the camera does not follow it. You can add some better camera logic to your game here.
-
The movement of the player when he's in the air is too loose and is faster than its movement when he's on the ground which makes grabbing the coins a little difficult since the coins are so small. It would be nice to have more precision control of the player whiles he's in the air.
Great game so far I can see this going to the App Store with a little extra polish and more levels!
Good start! @Murtaza definitely remember a gamepress version of this too.
Some suggestions to make the game even more fun imho:
-
Add multipliers or combos when getting a certain number of fireworks in a row which would add a more satisfying element to the game to make me want to keep catching them.
-
Gradually increase the number of simultaneous fireworks that pop up as the game goes on instead of making them really really fast. I would tweak how quickly the game makes the fireworks speed up overtime and make the speed up more gradual instead of sudden.
-
Perhaps add a particle trail to the fireworks for added effect and some subtle sound effects before and after they pop.
-
For gradual difficulty increase you can also vary the size of the fireworks instead of keeping them constant.
Great work so far keep it up!
Great game so far!
A few suggestions to make the fundamental gameplay a bit better:
- Some text or graphics showing what the input to the game is. It took a couple tries to figure out the swiping motion. Intuitively tapping the screen for jumping makes more sense to me.
- Resetting the game after dying takes too long for older devices. You can try to leverage preloading a bit better instead of restarting the entire level from scratch, or implement your own resetting of game objects. Perhaps even creating smaller chunks of levels and using multiple scenes, or generating levels on the fly if you want to get super fancy. Several things you can try here.
- The slight difference in shade of the solid grey ground and the background gray is not contrasting enough and may confuse players in thinking the background is solid ground.
Good luck and have fun polishing this game up!
This is phenomenal! Excited to see how far you and the rest of the community can take this. Keep up the awesome work!
Hi Aidan,
